Jazz Fest 2012

JazzFest is over for another year. The highlights are many and I will fill you in on these tomorrow. It has been a busy time over the past ten days. I have been looking after the Off The Record tour group which this year consisted of 36 people! I also recorded two programs and sent them back, carried out 7 interviews with musicians and authors and even attended a conference last Friday and Saturday morning!

Last night I finished off with the farewell dinner for everyone at Ralph & Kacoo’s and then the final gig: Steve Earle at Preservation Hall in a midnight show that also featured the Preservation Hall Jazz Band. Steve was in a happy, chatty mood when we spoke to him before the show and his 45 solo set was great. The Jazz Band had set the scene and then came back to play with Steve at the end. We had to leave about 1.45am and they were still going.

This morning it its out to a music store (I need a new gadget) and then off to Greenwood, Mississippi, where I will fill you in on what happened during JazzFest.
