Alabama Shakes New Album Soon

Sound & Color – the follow-up to Alabama Shakes’ four time Grammy nominated debut album Boys & Girls – will be released on Friday April 17 via Rough Trade Records / Remote Control. As well as the album’s artwork and tracklisting (both below), today Alabama Shakes have unveiled new single from the album ‘Don’t Wanna Fight’.

Since the release of the Athens, Alabama group’s critically acclaimed 2012 album Boys & Girls which has sold over a million copies worldwide, the band have been nominated for a Brit and Q Award, contributed music to the Oscar-winning films Twelve Years A Slave, Dallas Buyers Club and Silver Linings Playbook, performed at The White House alongside Mavis Staples and Justin Timberlake for Barack and Michelle Obama, and have appeared everywhere from Jools Holland to the main stages of festivals including Australia’s Big Day Out and the UK’s Glastonbury Festival.

“We took our time to write this record, and I’m really glad we did,” says lead singer/guitarist Brittany Howard. “We were able to sit down and think about what’s exciting to us. This record is full of genre-bending songs.”

Sound & Color was recorded at Nashville’s Sound Emporium studio. The band co-produced the album with Blake Mills – who has played on tour with Lucinda Williams, Band of Horses, Jenny Lewis and Julian Calasblancas as well as contributing studio work for Conor Oberst, The Avett Brothers, Norah Jones and Carlene Carter.

Alabama Shakes will appear at Bluesfest 2015 and play a Sydney show at The Enmore Theatre on Thursday April 2.

Alabama Shakes are lead singer/guitarist Brittany Howard, guitarist Heath Fogg, bassist Zac Cockrell, drummer Steve Johnson, and touring keyboard players Ben Tanner and Paul Horton.
