Robert Plant To Headline Bluesfest 2018

Bluesfest’s first artist announcement for 2018 features Robert Plant and The Sensational Space Shifters as return headliners.  Plant’s new album Carry Fire will be released on October 13.

Other headline acts announced today include Lionel Richie along with CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers and The New Power Generation while other internationals listed are: José González, First Aid Kit, Morcheeba, Gov’t Mule, Joe Louis Walker returns to Bluesfest for the fifth time in 2018, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, The California Honeydrops, Eric Gales, Dumpstaphunk, Bobby Rush, Rick Estrin and The Nightcats.

John Butler Trio and Tash Sultana head up the Australian contingent.

Bluesfest director Peter Noble comments on the announcement: “Well here it is, the first of our announcements for Bluesfest 2018, and what an announcement it is! Lionel Richie, Robert Plant, The New Power Generation, CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers, Jose Gonzalez, First Aid Kit plus two of Australia’s greatest artists The John Butler Trio and Tash Sultana, who is on fire right now.

 There is lots more from Morcheeba, the amazing Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real! Eric Gales and the California Honeydrops returning by popular demand from the last festival. We have lots of Blues in this announcement too….and we are just getting started. We are going to have a great festival in 2018! Hope to see you there.

Bluesfest takes place at the Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm, just outside Byron Bay over the Easter long weekend (Thursday 29th March to Monday 2nd of April 2018) for the 29th Annual Bluesfest. On site camping in a range of accommodation options is available.

Brian Wise was the Editor of Addicted To Noise‘s Australian site from 1997 – 2002. The site won two ONYA Awards as Best Online Music Magazine in 1999 & 2000. He has also been Editor since its reincarnation in 2013. He also presents the weekly music interview program Off The Record on 102.7 Triple R-FM (rrr.org.au) in Melbourne. It is networked to 45+ stations across Australia on the Community Radio Network and is a four-time winner of the Best Music Program Award from the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia. In 2012, it was nominated as a finalist in the Excellence in Music Programming category. Brian was also the Founding Editor & Publisher of Rhythms Magazine and is now its Senior Contributing Editor.
