The New York Times reports that L’Wren Scott, the successful fashion designer who was in a relationship with Mick Jagger, was found dead by her assistant in a Manhattan apartment on Monday morning (US time). A spokeswoman for Ms. Scott, Lisa Lupinski, confirmed the death. New York police don’t suspect foul play.
A spokesman for Jagger told the BBC that the singer was “completely shocked and devastated.”
Police are awaiting medical examiners to determine the cause of death.
Born Luann Bambrough and raised as a Mormon in Utah, Scott met fashion photographer Bruce Weber who recruited her as a model. In recent years, she became renowned as stylist and designer and her high profile clients included Nicole Kidman and Michelle Obama. Scott also worked on costumes for Hollywood movies such as Ocean’s 13.
“Nicole is heartbroken and in shock right now and unable to say anything,” a representative for Kidman told Rumorfix.com.
The MailOnline has reported that Scott was US$6million in debt and that she had recently cancelled a fashion show in London. The site also reports that the Coroner has taken Scott’s computer from her apartment.
It is not known if Scott’s death will affect the Rolling Stones’ Australian tour which is due to start in Perth tomorrow night.
