Iain SheddenThe Australian newspaper’s Music Editor – and also a well-known professional drummer who toured the world with the Saints – has died at the age of 60. No cause of death was revealed when the newspaper announced Shedden’s passing this morning.

Shedden worked for The Australian for almost 25 years and covered some of the biggest acts on the local and international music scene. He also contributed the influential weekly Spin Doctor column to the Weekend Australian in which he shared his observations of the music scene.

As a drummer, Shedden most recently toured with Reg & Pete’s Dog Trumpet and The Saints, with whom he had a long association.

In 2010 Shedden collaborated with music promoter Michael Chugg​ on the book Hey, you in the black T-shirt: the real story of touring the world’s biggest acts.

Brian Wise

Brian Wise was the Editor of Addicted To Noise‘s Australian site from 1997 – 2002. The site won two ONYA Awards as Best Online Music Magazine in 1999 & 2000. He has also been Editor since its reincarnation in 2013. He also presents the weekly music interview program Off The Record on 102.7 Triple R-FM (rrr.org.au) in Melbourne. It is networked to 45+ stations across Australia on the Community Radio Network and is a four-time winner of the Best Music Program Award from the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia. In 2012, it was nominated as a finalist in the Excellence in Music Programming category. Brian was also the Founding Editor & Publisher of Rhythms Magazine and is now its Senior Contributing Editor.
