Iain Shedden, The Australian newspaper’s Music Editor – and also a well-known professional drummer who toured the world with the Saints – has died at the age of 60. No cause of death was revealed when the newspaper announced Shedden’s passing this morning.
Shedden worked for The Australian for almost 25 years and covered some of the biggest acts on the local and international music scene. He also contributed the influential weekly Spin Doctor column to the Weekend Australian in which he shared his observations of the music scene.
As a drummer, Shedden most recently toured with Reg & Pete’s Dog Trumpet and The Saints, with whom he had a long association.
In 2010 Shedden collaborated with music promoter Michael Chugg on the book Hey, you in the black T-shirt: the real story of touring the world’s biggest acts.
