Gary Clark Jr Announces New Album


Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter and virtuoso guitarist Gary Clark Jr. will release his second major label full-length studio album, entitled The Story of Sonny Boy Slim, on September 11 via Warner Bros. Records. It will be available for pre-order from participating digital retailers beginning today, July 30. Those who pre-order will receive an instant download of two new album tracks: ‘The Healing’ and ‘Grinder.’  

The Story of Sonny Boy Slim was written, produced, arranged by Clark, who also plays most of the instruments, with assistance from his long-time live soundman, Bharath ‘Cheex’ Ramanat and Jason Sciba. Backing vocals are provided by his sisters Shawn and Savannah Clark. The album was recorded by Ramanath and  Sciba.

Clark has just completed a sold-out European tour and begins his domestic run this weekend at Lollapalooza 2015 in Chicago, followed by a series of fall shows with Foo Fighters in September and October. U.S headline dates have just been confirmed and will begin October 31 in Boston and wind up in Portland, OR, on April 13. 

Every ticket purchased online for Gary Clark Jr.’s fall/spring headline tour, will receive a standard digital download of The Story of Sonny Boy Slim.  (Festival dates and Foo Fighters tour dates are not included in this offer).

Brian Wise was the Editor of Addicted To Noise‘s Australian site from 1997 – 2002. The site won two ONYA Awards as Best Online Music Magazine in 1999 & 2000. He has also been Editor since its reincarnation in 2013. He also presents the weekly music interview program Off The Record on 102.7 Triple R-FM ( in Melbourne.
