Clapton Adds Shows To US Tour!

Late last year Eric Clapton announced a brief run of American tour dates for 2017 with shows at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on March 19 and 20, followed by two shows at the Forum in Los Angeles on March 25 and 26.

The guitarist will now return to Madison Square Garden on September 7-8 and The Forum in Los Angeles a week later on September 15-16.

The shows will celebrate Clapton’s 50 years in music and will include special guests Gary Clark Jr. and Jimmie Vaughan.

Clapton will be joined onstage by keyboardists Walt Richmond and Chris Stainton, drummer Steve Gadd, bassist Nathan East and vocalists Sharon White and Michelle John.

The tour also includes a trio of May dates at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

“I swear this is it, no more,” Clapton wrote in the tour program for his 70th birthday shows in 2015. “I know I’ve been threatening retirement for the last 50 years, but I didn’t think I’d ever really want to stop. I love what I do and always have done, but over the last few decades I’ve found what I was always really looking for, a loving family who love me just the way I am, which means I can relax and rest when I need to, and more and more I treasure the beauty of that.”

Clapton has also announced that the original Eric Clapton Signature Stratocaster model is now available with the new Journeyman Relic finish from the Fender Custom Shop as part of the guitar maker’s Custom Artist Series. The instrument is available in two finishes: two-colour sunburst and aged white blonde. According to Fender, “the finish lets the two-piece select ash’s figure show through while looking and feeling like the guitar has seen countless gigs.”
