Alabama Shakes Sydney Headline Show

The Alabama Shakes have announced that they will be performing their one and only headline show during next year’s visit in Sydney at the Enmore Theatre on Thursday April 2, 2015. They will be joined by Charles Bradley and His Extraordinaires. Alabama Shakes will also appear as part of the 2015 Bluesfest lineup in Byron Bay.

Following the release of their debut album, Boys & Girls, in 2012, which sold over a million copies and earned them four Grammy Award nominations, the group played in Australia in 2013 at The Big Day Out and other sideshows. The band has almost finished recording the follow-up album, although no release date has been given.

Led by vocalist Brittany Howard, the band – which includes Heath Fogg (guitar), Zac Cockrell (bass) and Steve Johnson (drums) – formed whilst still in high school 5 years ago in Athens, Alabama.

The group has also announced its first London gig since 2013 and will play at the Islington Assembly Hall on February 19, 2015.
